Volunteer firefighters help volunteer ambulance

Libby volunteer firefighters help volunteer ambulance personnel retrieve a man who was reported to have fallen inside a residence in the 400 block of Montana Avenue Wednesday afternoon. According to Fire Chief Tom Wood, the fire department was dispatched to assist with ladders and a basket stretcher because “a very narrow and steep stairway” inside the home prevented ambulance members from taking him out that way. “The patient needed to be laying flat, so they couldn’t bring him down on the stretcher in the extended manner,” Wood said Thursday via email. “Normally they can sit a person up and bring them down tight stairs like those.”
